Fall Superfoods for Optimal Kickboxing Results

Our kickboxing classes are for hard-core workout enthusiasts! In just one hour you can burn up to 800 calories, but what does one eat in order to prepare for the intense workouts that you will receive at Bushi Ban International? With our Fall inspired superfood list you can be sure to have a high intake of vitamins and nutrients as well as substantial protein and carbohydrates. These foods will power you through your kickboxing classes while also complimenting your fat burning cardio workouts!

Pumpkin:
Pumpkin is everywhere this time of year! Pumpkin spice lattes, muffins, bagels and more. These pumpkin treats aren’t very helpful for shedding pounds and achieving the washboard abs that we all work for in kickboxing fitness classes. How can you feel festive with the seasonal pumpkin trend but also stick to your nutrition and workout plan? It’s simple! Pumpkin can be incorporated into soups, nut butters, and smoothies. Pumpkin is an excellent source of fiber. It has three grams of fiber per every one cup serving and one cup is only 49 calories! This fiber-rich superfood will keep you feeling full for a longer period of time with very few calories. Diets rich in fiber help to curb appetite which leads to weight loss!

Apple:
Apples are an incredible source of fiber and antioxidants while also being relatively low in calories! One medium-sized apple has 0 grams of fat! While being both filling and low fat, apples are also responsible for reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, cancer, diabetes and asthma. Apples are also a great source of Vitamin C which is essential for repairing bones and healing wounds! Hardcore athletes, need to keep their bones healthy in order to avoid injury or overexertion in our fitness kickboxing classes!

Parsnips:
Parsnips are not a food that we generally pick up at the supermarket, but we all should start! This root vegetable is a superfood because of all of its dense nutrients and vitamins! Potassium, fiber, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Copper and phosphorus are just a few of the many nutrients and vitamins. The potassium found in parsnips is great for avoiding cramps during kickboxing classes! Potassium keeps your muscles from becoming overly fatigued and therefore keeps your muscles happy and healthy to endure longer workouts at high intensities!

Sweet Potato:
Sweet potatoes shouldn’t only be eaten on Thanksgiving! They are densely packed with calcium, potassium and vitamins including Vitamin A and C. As discussed in the other fall superfood recommendations, potassium and Vitamin C are crucial components of all athletes diet. Calcium is one of the most important nutrients for athletes because calcium promotes strong bone health and is also responsible for the health of nerves that send messages to muscles allowing them to know when to contract. Because we use muscles in our hands, arms, elbows, legs and knees during fitness kickboxing class we need to make sure our muscles are properly cared for to avoid tears or cramps.

Grapefruit:
One serving of grapefruit has only 53 calories and 2 grams of fiber. This means that grapefruits are excellent for keeping the body fuller for longer! Grapefruits are also known as a fat-burning fruit because grapefruit juice initiates stored fat to burn. However, grapefruit is not a magical weight loss pill, the sugars in the fruit cause the body’s insulin levels to decrease which aids in metabolism, energy and blood sugar levels to have a boost!

Make sure to incorporate some of fall’s natural treats into your usual meals! With high intensity workouts and high impact classes like our fitness kickboxing classes your body will be thanking you for the care, nutrients and vitamins that you put into it!
